AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Guy Ritchie's the Covenant - (review)

Guy Ritchie delivered *The Covenant* as a dramatic tale about war and loyalty which unfolds across Afghanistan’s brutal landscape. Ritchie delivers a completely unorthodox film through his depiction of the extremely close relationship between U.S. Army Sergeant John Kinley (Jake Gyllenhaal) and interpreter Ahmed (Dar Salim). When Kinley confronts the dangerous ambush he starts an operation to save Ahmed and his family while demonstrating the ethical dilemmas which soldiers face.

The film maintains rough battle sequences alongside personal scenes through cinematics that let viewers feel the somber experience of warfare. A stark score intensifies emotional weight throughout the story to emphasize both loyalty and redemption. Despite some foreseen plot developments Gyllenhaal and Salim’s acting powers successfully maintain the audience’s interest.

*The Covenant* advances beyond typical war films by exploring how individuals should be accountable to others through their loyalty to their comrades. The movie stays with viewers for a long time while recognizing how humans protect their loved ones through any challenge.
