Doctor Strange 2 - (review)

“Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness AKA Doctor Strange 2 ” is a visually impressive and far-reaching addition to the world of Marvel Cinematic Universe that throws the audience into the rainbow of alternate universes. The multiverse aspect in the film is not only a new and thrilling playing field but also meshes horror with superhero action to produce a more dark and erratic atmosphere than ever before. The clever visuals and the story telling construction of the movie creates a sense of wonder and curiosity that takes the viewers into a maze of infinite realities that feel cosmic and personal at the same time.

The acting, especially that of Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange manages to find the portentous balance between being humorous and serious, laying the foundation of a complicated story. New arrival Xochitl Gomez as America Chavez brings fresh blood and emotional layers, and other characters, such as Scarlet Witch played with a high degree of vulnerability and threat, raise the film to a higher emotional level. Sam Raimi directing injects it with his style into the movie- energetic camerawork, creative scenes, and a dose of horror, a component that introduces some element of uncertainty and audiences never know what to expect next. The score and cinematography continue to make the immersive process, increasing the tension and the feeling of wonder throughout each multiversal adventure.

The discussion about identity and choice, what is explored in the film, is what I connected with the most as those are the ideas that show multiversal possibilities of the film in its relations to the inner conflicts of the characters. Considering its flashy visuals and creativity in the story, the film at times fails to maintain its pace and continuity, therefore, appearing too grandiose. Although, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Made takes a gamble and managed to be bold and visually mesmerizing adventure that pushes the limits of Marvel. It has left audiences wondering what the multiverse may hold and gave them an emotional, ride, and horror ride that people are still thinking about after the credits have stopped.
