AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Vivarium - (review)

The film changes home searching into a disturbing nightmare landscape through which audiences experience an existential terror inside repetitive houses. The movie demonstrates perfectly how entrapment exists both as a real experience in an absurd neighborhood and within the boundaries of suburban living norms. The unsettling core of this story exposes horror viewpoints by presenting a new style of captivity while prompting viewers to face their worries about normal social conduct.

The main characters played by Imogen Poots and Jesse Eisenberg get trapped inside a paranormal residence complex that denies them any escape possibility. Their journey through this empty setting leads their hopeful spirit into severe emotional and psychological distress and frustration. Through their acting the couple expresses the escalating stress of being confined which helps audience members consider how their life choices limit them.

Through the direction of Lorcan Finnegan *Vivarium* shows its striking visual qualities through the use of sterile greens and grays which represent the emerging alienation of the couple. The sound effects help build the disturbing mood of the film by reaching both the narrative and emotional aspects of the characters’ psychological state. The movie puts forward a negative assessment of American consumerism and artificial societal standards while making audiences think about real home significance and personal decision-making which sustains its message after the end of the film.
