The Three Stooges - (review)

Mike and Peter Farrelly brought the instincts of the three stars – Moe, Larry, and Curly – into the 21st century, making a warm-hearted comedy “The Three Stooges” that teaches the values of friendship and trust. The film and the story are set and build round the humorous actions of three friends as they try to maintain the orphanage where they were raised, which is now in financial difficulties and turned into a killing-for-money story and a reality television show.

The movie does manage to pay tribute to the Stooges trappings while making it a new comedy variety with great casting who adds the depth to each character. For the most part, the direction is low key, adding some color to the absurd scenes and supporting it with some great music. The editing means the sequences flow rapidly, smoothly introducing slapstick numbers in between progression.

Everything is done, as in all cinematographic comedy bands derived from the American humor, along with easily recognizable references to the current popular culture and the real heartfelt trustworthy friendship of the four protagonists. Lastly, it is also a fun movie about friendship and enduring, that audiences, both old and new, can enjoy.
