The Book of Clarence - (review)

Allen Hughes’ ‘The Book of Clarence’ is an idea inspiring viewpoint of the universe one inhabits, and in which the value of redemption stands second to the royalty of selection. The events narrated in the story are focused on Clarence, a man seeking change of weather in the current socio-political situation that a man associate with the arrival figure of the Messiah. The narrative turns into a spiritual struggle that makes the character to value and desire something.

The efforts made to achieve the theme of need for significance can be described with Clarence’s character who is not presented as struggling for importance alone. Such kind of relationships are interesting and, if developed with key characters of that time, adds more fruitfulness to the text. Hughes masters combination of even and odd at all in order to make mystery and meditating corresponding to modern society and nature.

There beautiful imagery scenes in the movie and good music was used in an attempt to make the audience realize that Clarence had to endure. A high degree of production is visually developed that makes the audience locate itself within the specific historical era, and editing used and does work. The scenes make special emphasis in philosophy along with emotions in order to engage audience in Clarence’s decision-making process. In general, “The Book of Clarence” is idea-searching story of change and faith; it offers the audience a break from the on-going world turnmoil and makes them think about own life pursuit.
