AGASOBANUYE LIVE

The 100 Season 02 - (review)

The 100 Season 2 is a heart wrenching and ethical challenging drama on survival in a post apocalyptic era. The show is an exploration of the cruel decisions its characters have to partake and focuses on how expensive survival is. It confronts spectators, right at the beginning, to face the ugly truth that the survivors have to deal with and impresses on the viewer the ability to survive despite hardship. The storyline is also very gripping through the season and alliances are built and crumbled and decisions that are hard to make determine the health of the involved parties.

One of the outstanding features of the season is its depiction of moral infinity. Clarke, the intense moral chafing point, is strained to the full and it shows uncomfortable realities of what it is to do the right thing in a hopeless case. The union with the Grounders brings out the concept of trust and betrayals that show that there is no black and white but just a gray area when it comes to morality. Such subtlety of storytelling allows the series not to be just a series full of action, but a profound discussion of human nature and makes every decision heavy and plausible.

Optically, the season is stunning with a haunting cinematography to deliver the bleak elegance of the wilderness and the cold sterile setting of Mount Weather. Special effects and action usage increases the tension, which is combined with the tense character power play. The fast rhythm and slight music make the viewing even more emotional, which is impressive. On the whole, Season 2 was a bold statement to remember, as it did not shy away to venture into the questions of morality and weakness that humans often find themselves in while giving the viewer a taste of hope and desperation with an added side of admiring to see the strength of the human spirit.
