The survival horror: Sweetheart is a nerve-wracking and brutal experience that puts the audience in an alarming battle to make it inside a distant, isolated island. The movie starts when Jenn arrives on shore by washing ashore on a boat, which sinks in a storm, and the mood of seclusion and threat is emanated in the film. The grave of a family that is buried in the island and subsequent death of her friend Brad allude to some dark history that is still in the background. Through her exploration, Jenn finds disturbing evidence, starts with an eerie hole beneath the ocean surface to the bloody remains of Zack, creating the atmosphere of terror. Night fruitful experiences with a huge sea monster only increase the suspense making her survival a battle on life as well as an effort to find the truth about the cause of the monster.
The plot intensifies when the relationships of Jenn are put to a test; it shows betrayal and desperation. Her efforts to alert her friends Lucas and Mia of the monster receive no results and the results end up in bitter confrontations and losses. It is a perfect harmony between headless action and calm moments of improvisation as Jenn uses sharpened branches, bones of the graves, and fire to frighten the monster. The pressure mounts to its maximum with betrayal, death of Mia, and doubtful trust of Lucas building up to a point where Jenn forcefully and creatively decides to lure the monster and kill it. These images speak of basic instinct and survival of the fittest, as she transforms herself into the fierce survivor find her in the midst of darkness created by the most unbelievable foe.
The third and the last act of *Sweetheart* presents the unstoppable force of Jenn attempts to face the monster. Her painstakingly set trap, scrupulous journal entries, and ultimate decapitation of the carcass of the creature are all potent metaphors on how tough she is.
