Raja Hindustani - (review)

One of the Bollywood movies, from the mid 1990s is “Raja Hindustani ” directed by Dharmesh Darshan. The film revolves around themes of love, social class differences and emotional struggles. Aamir Khan plays Raja, a taxi driver from a class background, who falls in love with Aarti played by Karisma Kapoor belonging to a social class. Their decision to elope and marry against Aartis familys wishes leads to conflict as her conservative parents try to create rifts between them.

The movie blends comedy with depth delving into the couples feelings and societal pressures they face. Aamir Khan portrays Raja with realism while Karisma Kapoor embodies grace as Aarti infusing the film with intensity. The director skillfully juxtaposes their contrasting backgrounds, complemented by production design. The music, by Nadeem Shravan, the track ‘Pehla Nasha’ enriches the films narrative and atmosphere.

The cinematography captures the lovers journey amidst a society marked by divisions.
