Nobody 1 - (review)

Nobody is a stunning combination of bloody action and emotional narration, which goes into the depths of the soul behind a modest exterior. Director Ilya Naishuller creates the world in which a very dull suburbia covers a dangerous underflow, which creates tensions that explode into the scene of explosions. A combination of gritty violence and moments of contemplation make the film tense to watch, which remained on the edge of my seat and was also very emotional.

Bob Odenkirk does a fantastic job as Hutch Mansell, an apparently ordinary family man that hides a troubled past and some very impressive abilities. His image embodies the opposition that exists between silent desperation and tough resistance, unlike those who might not appreciate the fact that even the least expected people may have a tremendous power inside. The dialogue and plot of the screenplay are crisp and timed and help strip Hutch of some of his hidden anger and trauma as his transformation becomes believable and exciting.

The film is aesthetically amazing with a smooth camera work and rich production design that increases the tension in the action sequences and makes the plot appear a bit more realistic and set in a believable suburban location. The music perfectly enhances the atmosphere, moving between restrained silence to the outburst of violent noise. The stylized violence may be too much at some points but it helps to emphasize how Hutch evolved into a person who cannot be overlooked. Finally, I felt excited and thoughtful after reading Nobody because I believed in the strength of endurance and how surprising power can be when it is hidden beneath the hoods of the most ordinary people.
