Monkey Man in an intense film that is action oriented with a tinge of revenge and suffering and justice as the protagonist Kid fights hard to revenge his dead mother on these leaders. Depending on the mythos of Hanuman, the concerns and themes of the alluding society are numerous, viz corruption, degeneration of the citizenry…told in the film is the story of Kid…an unknown individual living in pit fightclub and an avenging fighter.
The chosen emotional dramaturgy of quickly switching between serious and severe tone maintain interest in the presented endeavors of the film. Kid himself is developed as conflicted and definitely disturbed yet bold the other characters are painted as representing suffering as facets of social injustice as apparent dualisms between the elite and the marginalised.
Director Devashish Makhija employs the vigorous montage and sound that allows the spectator to experienced confusion that has existed in Kid’s life, to grasp the feelings. “Monkey Man” poses a philosophical question ‘What is revenge and is it moral?’ which brings socio political emotions and essence of folktale inherent to the script into contour and thereby makes it a meaningful cinema for viewers and audiences that prefer movies that have a lot to speak.
