Mission Impossible: The Final Reckoning - (review)

In your face, action-packed and extremely ambitious globetrotting adventure, Mission: Impossible The Final Reckoning exemplifies the hall mark of the franchise, which is high octane astonishing stunts, meticulous plotting accompanied by unfathomable tense action. As soon as Ethan Hunt gets his mission from President Sloane, the film is engulfed into a tangled situation of espionage, betrayal and war of technology. The plot range of the book, which ventures to the depths of the sea, deep activities on frozen islands, and military bunkers holds your breath in anticipation of how Ethan will survive the collapsing mess.

The mood in the film is strongly expressed, and there is a feeling of urgency to every scene. The action is well planned out and very well done, with some sequences that may stretch the boundaries of believability, but with the resulting effect still being immediate. The technological aspects such as the Poison Pill malware and the Podkova module provide a fresh, high-stakes facet that is intrigue and interesting to experience. The acting is top-notch, particularly the resolve that Tom Cruise brings to Ethan Hunt- his sense of purpose and vulnerability are palpable and every close call and daring save is made that much more compelling. Adding supporting characters, such as Luther and Grace, as well as the new companions further gives depth and textures to this story.

In terms of visual effect, the film is great with the imagery and set contributions making a splendid contribution to the story. The scene of the submarine dive is rather memorable as well as the scene on the airplane carrier with tension feeling all over and the perfect usage of time and suspense. One of the things that makes the action such a thrill is the way this is integrated with the score or with sound in general as this just drives home that each mission is really a life or death scenario. Although the story line is at times too complicated, the constant tumult of the action, the characters, and the dialogue kept my attention throughout with its meshing momentum. On the whole, it is a thrilling, emotional powerful addition to the franchise which left me excited and engrossed in the world of Ethan Hunt and its danger.
