“Leo – Bloody Sweet” is an enjoyable action drama that takes its plot in Kashmir; Parthiban is a simple café owner, who witnesses his monotonous life turned upside down when he stands up for his café in front of contract killers. With regard to themes the film expresses the relationship between one and protecting oneself as well as the outcome of gaining fame, such as Parthiban who wishes to lead an ordinary life, but has to use his violent side once again due to the rise of violence which erupts, for example, after he was assumed to be the well-known local gangster.
It has a powerful portrayal of Parthiban, with the depth and subtlety of a vulnerable character, and a loyal family members and a touching love interest, on the flip side, we have the powerful dangerous villain, Antony Das. The direction of the movie provides the right amount of suspense along with emotions throughout and the use of cinematography gives a perfect representation of the harmless city of Shimla and the wild–life present in the movie.
The score complements the movie’s feeling and extrudes the suspense and gentle emotions in equal measure. Despite this the overbearing use of familiar tropes can be annoying, the core story however is complex and engaging and will get one thinking and looking at issues such as identity as well as the things a man will do to protect his family. All in all “Leo – Bloody Sweet” is quite a philosophical TV show that can enthrall the spectators till the end.
