AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Knowing - (review)

Through its narrative directed by Alex Proyas “Knowing” follows a science fiction tale about fate while exploring the human pursuit of understanding dynamics in a chaotic universe. In this story Nicolas Cage portrays John Koestler who loses his wife and wants to shield his son Caleb from the threatening prophetic numbers written by a distressed child named Lucinda. The movie centers its emotional plot on the bond between John and his son who experience increasing tension as he investigates the meanings behind what appear to be prophetic numbers.

The movie presents viewers with the eternal philosophical dispute between destiny and individual freedom so they can assess if life’s events are determined from the beginning or directed by personal choices. Through the music by John Ottman along with the mastered staging from Proyas the movie develops a disturbing environment that deepens the emotional scenes and accentuates the movies darker elements. The direction works between big screen moments and close-up emotional scenes to create an effective visual experience that conveys both grandeur and resignation.

The plot becomes increasingly supernatural in the second section which leads to awkward developments that seem unbelievable. The film strikes a deep chord with viewers because it pushes them toward uncomfortable inquiries about existence. The movie creates enduring effects that examine the burdens of acquired information while demonstrating how curiosity and languishing mentally connect to human life and destiny for viewers to understand existence and destiny.
