*Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes* follows the evolution of society and continues the story of the heir to Caesar and the ape kingdom. Wes Ball was behind the director’s chair for this movie, which takes place far after *War for the Planet of the Apes* In the movie, ape society is broken and divided with different groups fighting for dominance and a few still following Caesar’s teachings albeit to the damnation.
The primary story is based on the life of a teenage ape on his quests to regain his clan and stand up for authority’s victims. This quest is a great source of themes about destiny and legacy that will be interesting for the audience. A major player is a young female human who is also manipulative and whose goal relates to the ape’s conflict of interest, love amid hate between enemies. Hollywood in visually appealing cinematic, the movie has developed special effects and motion capture technique in capturing the emotional part of the ape characters.
Still it had little problems of pacing where some events really occurred and more events where not emphasized while few issues are illustrated repeatedly. At last, a serious philosophic meaning of freedom, responsibility, and the eternal change of power in the hands of *Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes* is shown. It’s a reflective piece that recalls Caesar but goes into new frontiers that secure its place into becoming an valuable part of the series.
