Good Bad Ugly - (review)

In this movie, action, drama and noir are tied together to look at ideas of redemption and revenge. The main character, AK, tries to leave his violent life behind so he can live peacefully with his family. Still, his tragic past drives him constantly to protect his family and confront his opponents. Between tense and violent scenes, the movie introduces heartwarming moments that reveal the emotions of the characters, especially AK attempting to move beyond his history of violence.

The actors do a good job, with the main actor showing AK’s determination and inner conflicts that push the story forward. The addition of supporting roles such as Ramya and the twin antagonists increases the drama and distance Pushpa from usual revenge thrillers. The movie’s cinematography is ruggedly stylish and does a good job of displaying Mumbai’s craziness and Spain’s sophisticated places. Well-framed action, fast-paced editing and using an energetic score allow viewers to be pulled into the story and feel even more affected by what’s happening.

“Good Bad Ugly” left a strong impact by looking into morally uncertain choices and self-sacrifice. It caused me to realize that history affects our future and that family is always there for us during any occasion. Even though parts of the story are a bit much, the empathy and powerful chases in the film make it unforgettable and show that glimmers of hope appear in the darkest times.
