AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Chhaava - (review)

Chhaava is a very potent film in the genre of historical dramas that bring into vivid life the life and heroism of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj and throws the audience into the very whirlpool of a turbulent history of the state of Maharashtra. Story of the film is full of political conspiracy, war and sacrifice of the self to the cause of Sambhaji devotion to the cause of his father Shivaji Maharaj. Its messages of loyalty, resilience, and patriotism are very powerful, which makes people adore his leadership and boldness under a regular threat of the Mughal empire.

The film is visually impressive because it has real production design and suggestive cinematography that populates the 17th-century Maharashtra. Panoramic vistas and intricate sets make it look like the viewer has been transported to war scenes and personal political scenes alike. This is a riveting film due to the intensity and severity of the characters, the stand-out one being the actor who plays Sambhaji Maharaj, he is sprinkled with the touch of a powerful rule yet the vulnerability. The smaller parts played by the supporting casts enrich the story by giving a personal touch and presenting the case of complicated personal and political battles behind the throne.

Although Chhaava is an emotional and a visually powerful piece of story-telling, there are times when she relegates intricate political forces to pure simplicity which makes certain battles sound simpler than they probably were during historical times. However, the gradual rhythm of the movie, emotional dialogues, and lyrical music enhance the emotional appeal, and one can feel the story even months after watching the movie. Finally, it is an emotional celebration of sheer determination and self-sacrifice that makes one proud and astonished at the sheer determination of a superhero in a tough situation.
