The morgue serves as an isolated setting for “Bodies at Rest” where a forensic expert along with his well-trained assistant fight against masked attackers. From the start the premise creates an atmosphere of tension because it presents an exciting investigation into human behavior when under pressure. Through the first paragraph of the narrative the author sets a tense mood while bringing readers into the restricted space of the morgue.
The film opens with the dangerous situation where armed intruders force access to one particular corpse. The healthcare professionals find themselves in a precarious situation after surrounded by unknown intruders. Throughout the narrative the intruders maintain an undisclosed identity which heightens suspense while making the audience question their actual reasons for being there. Through undisclosed intentions the film establishes suspense that makes viewers doubt the true purposes of every character.
The film suffers from some limitations because the characters remain underdeveloped. The film shows its forensic expert devoted to his professional work but it fails to explore his inner personal conflicts or life goals profoundly. The assistant performs mostly supporting roles for the expert while maintaining a limited character development with no identifiable narrative growth. The story maintains its tight structure during the opening conflict but later involves multiple plot developments which might diminish both character development and authentic emotional resonance. Although the story holds the viewer’s attention it develops into a foreseeable narrative pattern in the end. The pace in the film adopts erratic patterns because it speeds up to a frantic speed before slowing down to produce reduced tension in the plot. Throughout its run the film fails to deliver a substantial evolution of its main characters.
