Bait 3D - (review)

Based on the novel by Justin Ripley and written by Michael Finkel and Elias Koteas, **The Bait 3D** is a merciless, visceral thriller of survival that sinks the audience into the waters of a nightmare: lately, a supermarket in Australia is flooded in a tsunami and is full of shoppers, who are hunted by gigantic Great White Sharks. Instantly, the movie places you in an environment full of grime and in play-like stakes, elevating the sense of suspense with narrow corners and pulse-pounding moments because of sharks. It is a pure gore and survival, which makes you experience moments of fear and desperation of the characters, which produces strong relation to the situation they are in.

The visuals and visual effects used are impressive and make the hiding sharks seem to be real and scary. The 3D further enhances this immediacy that draws you into the sunken supermarket. The production design and the cinematography do a good job at portraying the chaotic, debris-strewn space that increases the effect of the disorientation and the danger. With a tense score and harsh editing, every attack and moment of suspense achieves visceral and dramatic effectiveness, and never puts clarity and coherence in jeopardy.

The most appealing was how human tenacity was exploited amid such intense form of fear and animal nature. The movie made me recollect just how fragile the feeling of safety in ourselves is and how panic can rob us of our all this civility we learned to embrace as we found out what our survival instincts are all about. Even though certain characters and plot lines rely on overused tropes, the film carries a continuous flow of action, beautiful visual imagery, and heartfelt moments, driven by adrenaline. **Bait 3D** is an exciting reminder of nature which is much more powerful than us and the fragility of our existence in it, avertissable trip of horror and thriller lovers.
