AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Aar Ya Paar S01 - (review)

Aar Ya Paar S01 is a powerful and provocative show, which explores the intricate strata of human morality and survival. Its story swings between the animal nature of tribal warriors and the harshness of city life that make it look incredibly simpler, which makes the series rich in terms of its theme. Focused on the turbulent life of Shekhar Khosla, who is played with a grimy reality by Jackie Shroff, the show examines how desperation and amoral conduct can lead to the disappearance of the distinction between what is right and wrong and leaves the spectators wondering whether they are loyal and upright themselves.

The show is a brilliantly done series with crisp storytelling, evocative cinematography and a haunting score which increases emotional value. It is assured, purposeful and balances scenes of unheddled intensity with nuances of character. The role of Jackie Shroff is exceptional as it takes up the inner struggle without being overstated but helps to imbue the drama with elements of reality, alongside such supporting cast as Ritu Shivpuri and Deepa Sahi. Imaginarily, the contrast between the scrashed city scenery with brief glimpse of the wild nature of the tribe creates more symbolic tones in the story, which throws the spectators into the realm where the survival may necessitate hard decisions.

The most impactful thing was the emotion the series made me experience, which was one of uneasiness and empathy as the show negotiates the gray areas of morality that we all face when put to the test. It stays in the mind much longer than having watched it, making one consider the primal instincts of motivating us and the margin between civilization and savagery. Even though certain characters might have been better developed, Aar Ya Paar S01 is, on the whole, a thought-provoking program provoking the perceptions and primal emotions, which is why it is a series worth watching by all those, who are concerned with stories exploring the darker sides of human nature.
