A Working Man - (review)

The intriguing movie “A Working Man” shows how a father deals with human trafficking elements while seeking to protect his family responsibilities. Levon Cade delivers a story about his transition from black ops operative into construction worker while attempting to lead a stable family life. Levon must return to a hazardous domain after Jenny the boss’s daughter disappears from her home because his instincts lead him to protect his new life and family.

The film uses effective cinematography between construction site grimness and criminal danger to maintain continuous tension. Muted colors chosen by the film work to intensify the emotional tone that matches Levon’s weighty moral decisions and important decisions. Through its subtle score the story expands the emotional weight of Levon’s character and builds audience tension when viewers experience his life journeys.

Some supporting characters lack enough characterization depth which reduces the story’s overall impact even though the pacing is deliberate and dialogue authentic. Through its exploration of duty and sacrifice “A Working Man” lets viewers consider how they would act to defend their family members. The story presents a powerful exploration that requires facing history to create prospects for progress.
