Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins is a roller-coaster heart-pumping adrenaline rush that flawlessly combines high-stakes crime story with deep plot development and a pinch of romance. Rehan Roy, the master thief with a charismatic face, gets into a mess of deceit, betrayal and loyalties, with the glamorous background of Budapest, Mumbai and Istanbul. The plot of the film is a tempest of the twists – whether it is the bold intrusion of the main character Rehan, the fake heist on the plane, or the subsequent story of the fact that all this was planned by him all along. The flow of action is unmerciful and the audience is left on the seat, wondering what awaits them at every twist.
The smartness of the film, however, was what impressed me the more; how Rehan plotted each and every detail and How he was able to play with each situation and transform the classical heist into a huge chess game. His complicated relationship with Farah is an emotive layer that equalsizes the adrenaline rush, and the character of his character is more complex than a standard action hero. The movie deals with the theme of loyalty, betrayal and redemption but put in a sleek and glamorous pack that glorifies the charm of old-fashioned cinematic heists and adds a contemporary spin. The conflict of the characters and the constant change of sides made me follow all the events, and I believed I am also a part of some bold game of tricks.
Nevertheless, the movie is not flawless. Sometimes all the twists seem to overload the viewer, and certain plot elements seem too much forced or rushed, particularly when it comes to the climax with the fake gem and the last deceits. The action scenes are thrilling, however, some CGI effects and chase scenes would have been more subtle. Nevertheless, the movie is an exciting one with its high-energy, smooth direction, and actors who are charismatic to watch. In the end, the article “Jewel Thief: The Heist Begins” left me feeling euphoric due to its ingeniousness and bold nature, as I am desperate to know where Rehan will take the plot next with its ominous ambiance.
