The over the top yet heartfelt tamil cop genre film Singham 3 transports the viewer into the never ending world of Durai Singam. By integrating a storyline about social injustice, environmental injustice, and personal struggles, the film supersedes a simple action flick as it makes the cinematographic action even more significant. The idea of illegal dumping of wastes and the insatiability of the corporations also make it a great story that only adds layers to what may have otherwise been mere pointless spectacle.
The role of Singam is stripped down to its bare essentials but portrayed to a degree of empathy with Surya rendering his own strength and weaknesses. The side characters bring life to the story, most particularly in the humanity of Vidya in her journalism and the threatening villain Vittal Prasad. Well-timed moments thanks to the skill of the director Hari ensure the film is highly engaging despite explosive moments and emotional moments. The intensity of the movie and the craftsmanship has a significant impact on bringing hope and resilience to life especially through utter devotion to the truth in Singam.
All in all, I loved the movie, and I was inspired by the way in which it conveys the idea of staying steadfast and upright despite increasing pressures. It teaches the lesson of standing by your principles regardless of issues that may come your way and the politics involved. Although certain sequences would have been better off with a little more breathing room, the action, the relevant social scope, and the heart of the film gives it a memorability and life-energy as befits a great movie about the timeless spirit of justice. It is a movie experience that is thrilling, thought-provoking and appeals to the deeper meaning of what it is like to standing up against goodness.
