Tehran Season 02 - (review)

“Tehran” Season 2 presents Tamar as she fights for survival while avoided capture following her unsuccessful attempt to detonate the Iranian nuclear reactor. Tamar currently hides with Milad while preparing an operation which endangers both of them and their family risk their lives because of it. Season 2 builds dramatic tension through the addition of Glenn Close as Marjan Montazeri who plays a powerful antihero role making the whole series more menacing and dangerous.

Tamar becomes emotionally shattered during the season because she breaks all the rules to get revenge against General Mohammadi in a way that leads to brutal actions including murdering her aunt. The attempts made by Tamar and Milad to enter Mohammadi’s circles include various errors like damaged wiretapping technology and unsafe target relationships which show their susceptibility amid dangerous espionage activities. The unstable performance of Milad combined with Tamar’s strong emotional responses consistently backfires on their missions to cause unpredictable tension.

Although the storyline lacks complexity the gripping way it is presented combined with complete characters and excellent visuals draws viewers into the story. Viewers will experience the best binge-watching experience by spreading out the episodes to gain understanding of character goals and moral ambiguity. Season 2 delivers sufficient compelling material along with forbidden entertainment to provide viewers an enjoyable yet flawed continuation of Tamar’s perilous adventures.
