Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings - (review)

*Wrong Turn 4: Bloody Beginnings*is a horror prequel directed by Declan O’Brien which stars a group of college students who find themselves lost during a snowmobiling trip and take refuge in an abandoned sanitarium only to find the place is in the hands of a bunch of mutated meat eater monsters. The film for most of its part does succeed in building up an atmosphere of suspense—the snow outside juxtaposed with the gloominess of the interiors of the sanitarium.

The students first heave a sigh of relief thinking they will be safe from any further calamity, only for the haunting feeling of being hunted to set in rapidly. Otherwise, there is little character growth; however, everyone shows a range of fear and/or bravery as they play the game of being the hunter and the hunted. This includes using a lot of violence and the concentration is on the special effects to bring horror in the movie as far as its pace is concerned it is fast.

Despite not bringing new features to the narrative, *Wrong Turn 4* keeps interesting aspects of isolation and of walking in unknown places, which only proves good for the franchise. It is a nice, suspense-filled film that offers its fair share of gore thrills in reminding everyone how not to take the ‘wrong’ turn.
