Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead - (review)

*Wrong Turn 3: Left for Dead* is a brilliantly violent installment which brings slasher horror into the fold with old fashioned survival thrills. Their attempted escape goes awry when the bus they are traveling in has an accident in the West Virginia woods; Directed by Declan O’Brien. The movie goes a notch higher and they are attacked by a mutant cannibal known as Three Finger. The plot of the movie includes two parallel arcs – the college students who are white water rafting in the area on which they are shot and the prisoners who fight for their lives.

The events don’t stop throughout the film, and there are common horror movie cliches as it tightens up the screws and presents a bunch of villains. Though the plot scenario is clichéd to the day it captures the story of survival and the element of fear beautifully. Although, the film lacks many post modernist elements, the excessive and highly effective make up of the special effects and good cinematography, underlining the loneliness and fear of the woods, is more than compensated.

Nevertheless, it stays quite interesting and, besides CA’s moments of predictability which may seem familiar to most horror movies, it combines black comedy and horror. All in all, *Wrong Turn 3* gives the audience a adequately close and thrilling ride and leaves people asking what really defines a predator.
