Red One - (review)

This ‘Red One’ by Jake Schreier is a hilarious Christmas movie mixed with action and the holiday spirit. The film is based on the kidnapping of Santa Claus, but in the movie, Chris Evans plays the North Pole’s Head of Security who goes round the world to rescue him with the help of a hilarious hacker character by Ana de Armas. Together they bring a vivid and energetic feel to the movie which encompasses the holiday motifs and does not get bored with the raw passion of spies, so it is interesting for everyone.

From the visual side, an outstanding work has been done including beautiful decoration of the North Pole, picturesque locations in different parts of the world associated with the Christmas spirit and the stormy amazing coloristic sights of the movie. The sound track includes mostly typical Christmas songs but interjects them with modern rhythms that suit the movement of the film.

Still, the problems of the Field’s ‘Red One’ lie in cliches in the plot and in dramatic progression, and rather underelaborated secondary characters. However, the film is incredibly effective in sparking holiday spirit in people and is mostly focused on the themes of kindness and collaboration. All in all, “Red One” is an intense-filled movie with a hint of holiday theme which makes it perfect for the holidays.
