The name of the graphic novel is ‘American Badger,’ which tells the story of Dean, a lone hitman, who also calls anemia; his ex-wife died recently. And this links the film to the topics of the friendship and the redemption as though, initially, he is an undercover cop, he is to become friends with Velvet, a prostitute on the payroll of the Albanian mafia. The fantastic number of scenes of the action, the realistic approach to shooting, and the energetic inspiring music accompaniment contribute greatly to the depth of the dramatic action, and engaged the viewers to the fates of the chosen ones. Still, there’s a bit too little given to the potentials of the main cast’s characters’ backstories within the film’s assets of swift pacing.
It is accompanied by a last touch added pretty recognizable violent clichés that are presented in the show and in the genre sometimes overusing. Last but not least, “American Badger” is the tale of two people who fall in love to spare everybody’s feelings but to make other people remember what can be right and wrong in the world to gain faith solely for the sake of the beloved.
