Koyla released in 1997 was directed by Rakesh Roshan and featured Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit with Amrish Puri and Juhi Chawla In this old typically Indian movie, a man named Shankar who cannot speak falls in love with a village girl called Gauri. Disguised as a king after seeing photo of Princess Gauri who promises to marry a king he shows reality is he a loyal slave of the king and SRK is the actor. I at present identify some motifs that in sequence correlate with points: identity of a man, love – first sight, and fight against the oppression, in particular, with Raja Saab performed by Amresh Puri.
The movie “Koyla” has feeling of love, passion some time with touch of aggression as observed in the scene just before the climax in the movie. Khan continues the spirit and could well do justice to the angry young man Shankar in terms of the sympathy that is ever lingering in his eyes as well as the restraint that marks him out that is captured very well by Madhuri Dixit for the character of Gauri which is charmingly innocent. The film is drawn with lots of positivity in terms of direction that has embraced colourful scenes and magnificent cinematography that shapes the drama of this film.
The music score by Rajesh Roshan has also added a lot to the film because has music which looks timeless and is genuinely touching. When summing all these, it is clear that the pacing of the story is good though it is stretched as it does not feel monotonous though some of the sub plots seem so undeveloped. Thus, “Koyla” is a common Indian movie representing the theme of love and battle, revenge and love being illustrated through Mora and Koyla on the big screen which people will always remember.
