Overdrive - (review)

‘Overdrive’ directed by Antonio Negret is an action film that was shot on the south of France where brothers Andrew Foster and Garrett Foster twin brothers impersonated by Scott Eastwood and Freddie Thorp engage in stealing luxuries cars. Their higher aims get risky when they meet Italian mobster Jacomo Morier as portrayed by Simon Abkarian. They are caught while trying to rob a valuable car, a 1937 Bugatii; they are forced to steal a prized 1962 Ferrari from Morier’s competitor, Max Klemp Clemens Schick.

Fast-paced heist elements filled with chases & betrayals, the brothers of the film sports a good bonding and risky while showcasing chemistry. In the case of the movie plot, in order to achieve some storytelling the movie goes over the top at times while at other times the necessary character development is substituted with lots of action.

The scenery and the French countryside are great on screen and the action sequences are supported by action packed musical score but emotional triggers could have been better supported. All in all it is well-produced thrill that orchestrates style, velocity and the orchestration of brotherhood and is a good, though typical, ride for those who like it fast and frantic.
