Snow White and the Seven Samurai - (review)

In this photoplay, the fairy tale “Snow White and the Seven Samurai” is retold with oriental style of martial art added with western flair. A live-action movie adaptation is based on Snow White, who is betrayed by her stepmother, and then saved by seven elite killers who turn her into a warrior. This chang illustrates her character development process Besides, it captures the themes of women’s autonomy, betrayal, and loyalty that depict the relations between characters.

From the visuals perspective the picture does have a very nice looking fairy-tale like zones mixed with brilliant action scenes. The authenticity of the locations and the overall set design or lack thereof which were nicely incorporated as part of the plot makes watching this show a plus. The score incorporating orchestral along with Japanese instruments also enhances the filmy factor to a completely new level.

Despite this, there are certain technical aspects of the movie with which it is impossible not to spill the meatloaf, the film has proven to juggle pacing at times, and would not necessarily attract fans of the traditional ‘stick-to-the-books’ adaptation. All in all “Snow White and the Seven Samurai” is a creative retelling of a fairy tale that present viewers with untraditional ideas of what a hero is and what his mission is, so it is more than interesting to watch.
