Yevadu - (review)

Yevadu is an explosive Telugu movie that pulls viewers into a story filled with revenge, who people are and tricks. After a coma, Sathya finds he is scarred and discovers that Deepthi, his love, has been killed. Because of his sadness and desire for justice, Sathya aims to take revenge, but when he awakens, he finds that his face is not his own. Because of this unexpected change, it becomes hard to separate Clay’s revenge from who he truly is.

The movie is particularly impressive because it maintains a fast-paced story allowing for both exciting scenes and those that move the audience. The plot becomes more interesting as Sathya meets Shruti and discovers he is caught up in a larger conflict with several gangs and unknown purposes. Because the secrets behind Manju (Shruti Haasan), Dharma (Sai Kumar) and the gang are so unknown, the plot remains mysterious, often discussing themes of deceit, second chances and what’s really happening with the main character. Parasite moves rapidly from intense battles to thoughtful moments, all the while remaining action-packed.

The most striking part for me was how the book looked at Sathya’s sense of self as he became caught in a web of lies. What kept me involved the whole way through the movie were the interesting characters and unexpected surprises in the plot. Despite a few common clichés in masala films, “Yevadu” turns out to be a great movie full of stunning scenes and compelling moments that ask about the parts of ourselves we keep after experiencing loss and dishonesty. It dives into the world of revenge and the story is full of tight plots and a will to redeem oneself amid the turmoil.
