AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Rosario - (review)

The movie “Rosario 2025” moves viewers because it argues about grief, mortality and the world of spirits. During a very cold, wintry evening, the story shows Rosario waiting helplessly for help beside her grandmother. The quiet and cold environment of the film makes us aware of her isolation and weakness and it stays with you as you leave the theater. The subtle mix of magic in the movie gradually makes you realize that the line between being alive and dying is getting hazy which makes you feel uncomfortable without forcing cheesy jump scares.

Both actors give strong performances and Lenora (played by Rosario) is convincing as she changes from a sad daughter to an individual struck by possession. The way she feels as the film unfolds makes the horror seem real and close to the viewer. Using less visual detail, a muted color palette and shadow tricks, the film brings out its sad atmosphere and the limited music points out the tension. The presence of supernatural beings is hinted at, allowing the audience to imagine what is happening which keeps the movie suspenseful and eerie.

The film captured me most by looking at vulnerability and where life ends and death begins. It makes us wonder how mysterious energy can enter our most important areas, mainly when we are deeply saddened. Some viewers who want quick thrills could be bored by how slow the movie is, but it offers peacefully unsettling scenes around fear, loss and the supernatural. All in all, the film elegantly highlights our end and the things we do not know about death.
