Jonah Hex - (review)

Jonah Hex is another western movie where the central character is Jonah Hex who is acted by Josh Brolin . The story is ultimately post Civil war period centered on a character named Hex, a man with no face, a man who hunts criminals alongside the ghosts since Turnbull’s men killed his family in front of him.

[Hex is] a more deliberately and confidently played and Brolin pulls off the character as a sort of morally murked, anti-hero, of the movie. As for the rest of the cast that includes Megan Fox, they fail to make a mark that is on the same level as Brolin. The cinematography therefore provides a fairly artistic take on the old wild west, however some scenes which employ special effects and some action scenes seem to be out of synchrony. The speed is uneven here – one can have a breathtaking action sequence followed by rather lengthy scenes.

The entire story focuses on Hex finding a temporary friendship with the Union to ward off Turnbull’s plan of deploying a powerful weapon of mass destruction. In the big picture, “Jonah Hex” is a good point when it comes to continuity and that fits a western anti-hero but when it comes to storytelling, it does not really take these facets to their full potential or tell the full story. Despite having some potential interest for overly audiences of anti-heroraq, it seems like an incomplete work.
