AGASOBANUYE LIVE

Ganapath - (review)

*Ganapath* tells the dark story in dystopia and the gray of protagonists and antagonists, and with the theme of hope as both a savior and a destroyer. The narrative is set up around Guddu who migrates from being a comprime in an ill-freedom society to reluctantly turn into the freedom fighter Ganpat the hope of the oppressed. The grand familiar construction reveals the gap between the prosperous and the suffering, and such elements make the movie even more meaningful: betrayals courage, and the cost of heroism and saving the numerous populace from a great threat.

On the visual front, there is the usual cineatic realism that seems to be common with most modern Marathi movies, coupled with the unyielding conditions illustrated including pollution filled air, dimly lit alleys, expended interiors and noise filled roads and tracks, together with splashes of hope in the form of lights, colors and the divine elephant. While the direction is also able to deftly combines adrenaline-pumping action with the heart, certain decisions of editing contribute to the problems of pacing.

While sinking in usual genre cliches and loosing focus in some moments regarding characters actions, the cast still keeps the audience hooked. Finally, one can speak about the movie provoking essential philosophical thoughts about hope or the state of a savior in a world without mercy. Though *Ganapath* might seem to be a new age action thriller, it has enough impact that provokes the audiences emotionally and mentally for a viable experience.
