Christopher Landon is the director of a tense and funny movie called “Freaky”. The storyline is that of a high school senior who switches bodies with an insane serial killer, and she only has less than 24 hours to undo the various changes brought about by this metamorphosis that will be permanent if not reversed within one day.
Self discovery,resilience and unexpected bonds are the themes explored in this movie. The cast gives depth and humour to their characters with brilliant performances from Vince Vaughn and Kathryn Newton. Landon’s approach manages to find just the right middle ground between terror and hilarity, maintaining a brisk pace throughout that keeps viewers entertained.
The score and cinematography accentuate the feel, while production design and special effects are contributing elements to authenticity of high school setting. Freaky is a wildly entertaining film that masterfully mixes genres, frightening and charmed its viewers as they witness this desperate race against the clock. It is a wonderful movie that makes you think about accepting yourself and learning to be strong despite the odds.
