Stranger Things S01 - (review)

The first season of Stranger Things is an emotional, action-pack trip in 1980s Indiana that perfectly combines the paranormal horror genre with touching coming-of-age fanfare. The show begins by the disappearance of a young boy in a strange manner and soon spirals into a thicket of lies that comprise an obscure government facility and an alternative reality known as the Upside Down. What served me to pick most was the way the show embodies the innocence and companionship of growing up in the middle of rising confusion or, in other words, sets a striking contrast between the images of the pure wonder of youth and the evil that hides deep under the skin of the city. The combination of supernatural and every-day small town life in general results in the building of a tone of suspense and curiosity to hold my interest until the end.

Characters are well developed, as Winona Ryder shows an insanely driven personality, Millie Bobby Brown has a spine-chilling part as Eleven, and the friendship group shows its support to one another, giving the plot emotional color. Their relationships are genuine, and the participants characters are very touching and emotionally pleasing to follow. The surrounding of the early 80s is very well explained with the textual attention to detail that all the viewers could wrap themselves in a honored time. The tone is very spine chilling yet filled with real warmth so the supernatural horror can be more effective and close to the heart.

Led by a nostalgic, contemporary approach, the series brings together a tension-building tempo, strong down to earth effects, and haunting music that increases the haunted aura. The story doesn aspires to be more than that due to a strong cast of characters and the emotional drama involved in film, even though certain scenes betray conventional horror tropes. The most striking thing about the show, in my opinion, was the way it addressed such themes as friendship, courage, the unknown, making me so attentive to the show and emotionally aligned with it. Season 1 of the show Stranger Things is an interesting case of a trip down memory lane, suspense, and thrill pertaining to the supernatural element that makes it hard to forget after the ending credits.
