No Escape - (review)

“No Escape” is a gripping survival film filled with intensity and hardship directed by John Erick Dowdle and starring Owen Wilson as Jack, Lake Bell, as Annie and Sterling Jerins as Beacon. The movie revolves around the Davis family led by father Jack, who relocates to Thailand for work only to find themselves caught in the midst of a coup.

Struggling to survive against all odds they cling onto a flicker of hope amidst the chaos.  The performances of the actors are particularly Wilsons portrayal of a father fighting for his child with emotional depth Bells depiction of determination and intelligence as Annie and Jerins portrayal of courage and intellect as Beacon. The bustling and claustrophobic setting of Bangkok encapsulates the familys quest, for freedom.

The film captures the turmoil of the coup and the familys battles through cinematography by Léo Hinstin. It delivers an impactful narrative that delves into themes of violence and disorder rooted in war torn landscapes. Overall “No Escape” is a must watch for fans of action thrillers seeking a movie experience that keeps them on edge.
